For this edition of Lost Sounds, DJ, music producer, and surfboard shaper MAXV steps up to the booth with some tracks that are sure to get your mind (and feet, shoulders, hips) wandering. Curious, energized, and altogether uplifting sounds take us around the globe and across decades from 70s Colombia to 90s Egypt all the way to 2021 Leeds, making stops in Copenhagen, Harlem, Brazil, and many more cities along the way.
The born-and-bred Angeleno selected a big range in genre and pulled from many places, perhaps as a way of traveling sonically. “I love hearing songs from far away places,” he says. “Hearing someone sing in another language is a fun time, and the instruments that follow other languages are an extension to the experience.”
“Music smells good to me. It always has,” he adds. “At a young age I wanted to eat it all day. Naturally, it is in my life daily on many spectrums.”
Thank you for sharing some of your decades-long daily music finding practice with us, MAXV. In jams we trust.
